What makes Therma Haus different
Every part of this studio was built on purpose — the wood, the heat, the water, the layout. Here's what's actually behind the experience.
The sauna
Handcrafted, on site
Built from clear vertical-grain Western Red Cedar
Our saunas were handcrafted at our location using only the highest-quality materials throughout — the insulation, the sauna buckets, the heaters, the tile flooring, and the wood itself: clear vertical-grain Western Red Cedar, a premium sauna wood chosen for its stability, durability, natural aroma, and ability to handle repeated heat and moisture without warping. Nothing here was built to a budget.
Fun fact: "Clear" means the wood is selected for minimal knots and imperfections. "Vertical grain" is what creates the straight, consistent grain pattern you see running through the wood.
A real Finnish-style sauna
Water can be poured over the stones to create löyly — the burst of steam that hits when water meets hot stone. Löyly makes the session more immersive, temporarily raising humidity and making the heat feel deeper and more intense. Unlike a fully dry sauna, it lets you control the heat and humidity throughout your visit.
Two 18kW heaters per sauna
Each sauna is powered by two 18kW heaters, giving you more hot stones for a richer, more immersive löyly experience. The extra heating power also helps the sauna recover temperature quickly as guests come and go, keeping the heat strong and consistent all day — up to ~220°F for the traditional high-heat experience.
Bench height matters
Heat rises, which is why our upper sauna benches are positioned high in the room. Sitting higher keeps more of your body in the hottest, most consistent part of the sauna instead of leaving your feet in significantly cooler air.
Sauna height matters
A well-designed sauna isn't about having an unnecessarily tall ceiling — it's about positioning bathers where the heat collects. Our layout keeps the upper bench close to the ceiling so guests can actually enjoy that valuable upper layer of heat.
Proper ventilation matters
A great sauna needs more than powerful heaters. Properly placed fresh-air intake and exhaust ventilation continuously moves air through the room, helping create a more comfortable and consistent sauna experience.
The cold plunge
Built to actually stay cold
Four tubs, 40°F to 60°F
Four different plunges, each held at its own temperature between 40°F and 60°F — you choose what works for you, whether that's an easing-in temperature or the full shock.
Not a backyard cold tub
Every plunge runs on dedicated circulation and filtration rather than just sitting water — and every guest who steps in raises the water temperature. A typical store-bought unit runs a small filter and a 1HP chiller, so after 5–6 people in half an hour, the water's already warming up. Ours run 2.5HP chillers, built to keep the water genuinely cold no matter how many people have used it that day.
